The Hydranautics ESPA1-LD-4040 (manufactured by a Nitto Group Company) is a commercial-grade, energy-saving polyamide (ESPA) reverse osmosis membrane engineered for high-performance water treatment. Utilizing advanced composite polyamide polymer technology, this 4-inch by 40-inch spiral-wound element is specifically designed for the purification of low TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) tap and brackish water sources. It incorporates Hydranautics' proprietary Low Differential (LD) Technology, which features a specialized 34-mil feed spacer. This advanced spacer design minimizes colloidal fouling when used with conventional pre-treatment equipment, optimizing internal flow dynamics and significantly extending the intervals between chemical cleanings for continuous-duty systems.

Designed to maximize system productivity while minimizing operational costs, the ESPA1-LD-4040 delivers a highly efficient permeate flow rate of 2,450 GPD (9.27 m³/d) with a nominal salt rejection of 99.4%. Operating effectively at an exceptionally low test pressure of just 150 PSI, this membrane drastically reduces the energy required by high-pressure booster pumps, providing significant capital and operational expenditure savings. Built to withstand demanding commercial environments, the robust element safely accommodates a maximum applied pressure of 600 PSI, a maximum feed flow of 16 GPM, and continuous liquid temperatures up to 113°F (45°C). By combining industry-leading energy efficiency with uncompromised water purity, it is widely utilized for municipal drinking water production, light industrial process water, and high-volume commercial purification systems
