The LG Water Solutions (a business unit of LG Chem) LG BW 4040 ES is an energy-saving, brackish water reverse osmosis (RO) membrane engineered for light industrial and commercial water treatment applications. Manufactured utilizing LG's proprietary Thin-Film Nanocomposite (TFN) technology, this 4-inch by 40-inch spiral-wound element features benign nanomaterials embedded directly into the polyamide layer. This advanced membrane chemistry significantly increases permeability, allowing the membrane to achieve high flux rates while operating at lower feed pressures. This design directly reduces energy consumption and operational costs, making it highly suitable for low to medium salinity brackish water applications where consistent, reliable performance and high permeate water quality are required.

Designed to optimize system efficiency, the LG BW 4040 ES delivers a high permeate flow rate of 2,500 GPD (9.5 m³/d) with a stabilized salt rejection of 99.5%. The element features an 85 square-foot active membrane area and utilizes a standard 28-mil feed spacer to balance internal flow dynamics. Operating reliably at an exceptionally low standard test pressure of just 150 PSI, this robust RO membrane safely accommodates a maximum applied pressure of 600 PSI and a continuous liquid temperature up to 113°F. By combining industry-leading nanocomposite materials with energy-saving operational requirements, this membrane delivers high-purity water while minimizing the strain and wear on high-pressure system booster pumps.
