NF270-400/34i FilmTec DuPont / DOW Membranes
DuPont FilmTec NF270-400/34i Nanofiltration Membrane
The DuPont FilmTec NF270-400/34i is a high-productivity, low-energy nanofiltration (NF) membrane engineered specifically for the removal of organics and targeted hardness in commercial and municipal water treatment systems. Manufactured utilizing advanced piperazine-based polyamide thin-film composite technology, this 8-inch by 40-inch spiral-wound element is designed to remove a high percentage of total organic carbon (TOC), trihalomethane (THM) precursors, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It is an ideal solution for surface and groundwater applications where excellent organic removal is desired alongside partial softening, allowing a minimum level of hardness and alkalinity to remain in the permeate to help manage corrosion risks and preserve distribution networks.
Designed for maximum system efficiency and robust fouling resistance, the NF270-400/34i delivers a high permeate flow rate of 12,500 GPD (47 m³/d) with a nominal salt rejection of greater than 97.0%. The element is tested and operates efficiently at a low standard pressure of 70 PSI, significantly reducing the energy required to pressurize feed water. It features 400 square feet of active membrane surface area and utilizes a 34-mil low differential pressure (LDP) feed spacer. This thicker spacer minimizes the impact of fouling on the pressure drop across the vessel and enhances the effectiveness of chemical cleanings over a wide pH range (1–12). Additionally, the element is equipped with iLEC (Interlocking End Caps) technology, which helps reduce system operating costs and minimizes the risk of internal O-ring leaks that can compromise water quality.
