High-Flux 8-Inch Full-Fit RO Element for Food & Beverage Water

The DuPont FilmTec™ RO-390-FF is an 8-inch by 40-inch full-fit reverse osmosis element made for food and beverage water treatment and other applications that need sanitary-grade permeate. Its polyamide thin-film composite membrane produces 13,700 GPD from 390 square feet of active area, with a stabilized salt rejection of 99.5% (98.0% minimum) at standard test conditions of 225 PSI. The full-fit configuration is designed to minimize stagnant areas inside the element.

With that much membrane in a standard 8-inch format, the RO-390-FF gives system designers a lot of output per vessel position. It uses a 27-mil feed spacer and fits a standard 8-inch pressure vessel. DuPont positions the element for uses where the permeate is the final product, such as bottled water and beverage water supplies, rather than for sanitary processing of the feed stream itself.

The element tolerates feed pressure up to 600 PSI, temperatures up to 113°F, and a continuous pH range of 3 to 10, with short-term cleaning allowed from pH 1 to 12. Stabilized rejection is typically reached within 24 to 48 hours of continuous use, and DuPont recommends discarding the permeate produced in the first hour of operation. Each element ships with two end caps and one coupler with two EPR O-rings.
